Just had my first experience at a strip club with female dancers. I'm still trying to decipher what it means that dudes wanted to talk to me while there are half naked chicks around and I'm in a blazer and jeans...

I can't call it.

Excess Baggage

I was talking to my best friend since childhood this morning and filling her in about the latest adventures. Being that she has been my friend so long, she has seen the different romantic encounters come and go. I happen to be on good speaking terms with almost every guy I've dated in the past. Because there is a relatively intimate bond there I often find myself moving backwards into these relationships possibly because I feel like I already know what I'm going to get. Perhaps it's the adage: better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

She asked why do I keep them around. I never really thought about it til now. Besides the fact that because we dated I have feelings and I care about their well being, the friendship lane is a safe one. Outside of the title and confines of a relationship, dudes are more lax and I get the opportunity to see them, flaws and all. It becomes easier to discern what kind of person dude really is when he is not focused on how it might affect me and our relationship; there is nothing tangible to gain. In a sense, it's backwards, we should probably have taken the time to be friends first, but that's not how it happens for a variety of reasons. Welp, I know I need to move forward but does that mean letting my past go in the same step?

Yay!!

Gone for a minute...

..and I'm finally back to blogging. For real. For a long time I wasn't writing because nothing was going on. Now too much has been going on so I haven't had time to put everything down. Still unemployed officially, but very active in my entrepreneurial ventures. I'm the chief communications officer of Guys and Girls (visit the blog: Guys & Girls) and I am trying to assemble a board of directors for my nonprofit organization. So I've been doing a lot of independent research pertaining to those two. AND I'm still applying to law school. FML. And I'm considering taking on some freelance work with Singersroom.com. I am far from in need of things to do to occupy my unemployment time.

Romantically, I'm chasing the future and running from the past which has me stuck in the middle, and the pain is fatal. (c) Michael Jackson I'll definitely have blog entries as it relates to these situations because it seems so surreal at times.

Ah, yes. I'm back to putting myself (and others) on BLAST. POW! Let's. Go.

And The Winner Is...
Friday, October 9, 2009

Woke up to the headline: Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize. Of course my initial reaction was that of extreme pride and a deep sense of YES! Hi5! And I am still proud, I mean who wouldn't be of that kind of accomplishment, but then I calmed down and wondered what the hell he won for.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee lauded the change in global mood wrought by Obama's calls for peace and cooperation but recognized initiatives that have yet to bear fruit: reducing the world stock of nuclear arms, easing American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthening the U.S. role in combating climate change.

"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," said Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Committee.
Uh, so basically he won before the race was over. I'm not hating, I'm just saying... I think this isn't necessarily a good precedent for the Nobel Committee to set. If you look at some of the other candidates, I mean it's hard to see how some of them could NOT get some sort of international recognition. To go from awarding accomplishments to encouraging them is going to be a shift for the committee but dude said he came to change shit, and he sure did. Again, congrats to the president. I don't believe anyone but him could have won in this way.
